Why add the badge
Customers check a business in more than one place before they call. A badge in your website footer sends them straight to your listing, where they see your services, the areas you cover, photos and reviews in one page. It also tells them your details are published on an independent directory, not only on your own site.
Badge styles
| Style | Size | Best on |
|---|---|---|
| Light | 210 x 56 | White or light footers |
| Dark | 210 x 56 | Dark footers and coloured backgrounds |
| Compact | 204 x 34 | Narrow footers, sidebars and next to other small logos |
How to add the badge to your website
WordPress
- Go to Appearance > Widgets (or Appearance > Editor > Footer on block themes).
- Add a Custom HTML block to the footer.
- Paste the code and save.
Wix
- In the editor, click Add > Embed Code > Embed HTML.
- Click Enter Code, paste the code and click Update.
- Drag the box into your footer and resize it to fit the badge.
Squarespace
- Edit your footer and add a Code block.
- Paste the code, keep the mode on HTML and save.
Shopify
- Go to Online Store > Themes > Customize and open the footer.
- Add a Custom Liquid or Custom HTML section, paste the code and save.
Any other website
Paste the code into the HTML of your footer, just before the closing </footer> tag. If someone else built your website, send them the code; it takes a minute to add.
The code is a plain link and image. It does not load scripts, set cookies or track your visitors.
Tips
- Keep your listing up to date before you add the badge: services, service areas, phone number and photos are what visitors will see.
- Ask happy customers to leave a review on your listing; the badge sends new visitors to read them.
- If you run more than one business, make a badge for each listing so every website links to the right page.
