Hilliard Rug Cleaners

At Hilliard Rug Cleaners, our core service is the traditional, artisanal hand-washing of your precious rugs. This isn't an industrial process; it's a craft passed down through generations. We specialize in cleaning genuine hand-knotted Oriental, Persian, and fine area rugs using the same flat-wash technique employed for centuries in the rug-weaving regions of the world.

This service is essential for anyone in Miami who owns a valuable, delicate, or antique rug. Machine cleaning can damage fibers, distort shapes, and strip natural oils. Our hand-washing method is gentle yet thorough, safely lifting deep-seated dirt, allergens, and stains without harsh chemicals.

The process begins with a careful inspection. Our experts then gently hand-wash your rug using specialized, pH-balanced solutions. After multiple rinses to remove all residues, we extract excess water with precise control. The final, crucial step is our natural sun-drying. Your rug is placed face-down on our clean, grassy field where the radiant Florida sun and fresh air work together. This solar drying not only prevents mildew but uses UV rays to naturally brighten colors and allow the wool fibers to release their inherent lanolin, restoring softness and resilience.

We are the best choice because we combine 90+ years of expertise with an unwavering commitment to the old-fashioned way. We understand wool as a living fiber and treat it with the respect it requires. The result is a rug that is not only immaculately clean but also revitalized, preserving its beauty and value for decades to come.

Beyond cleaning, Hilliard Rug Cleaners offers professional appraisal and meticulous restoration services for rugs that have suffered damage, wear, or aging. An appraisal from our experts provides you with an accurate understanding of your rug's market value, origin, and age—essential for insurance, estate planning, or sale.

This service is designed for rug owners in Miami who have inherited family heirlooms, collected investment pieces, or simply have a beloved rug that has seen better days. Whether it's a frayed edge, a moth-eaten section, faded colors, or a torn foundation, our skilled artisans can bring it back to life.

Our restoration process is a detailed art. We start with a comprehensive assessment to identify all issues. Our craftsmen then source matching wool dyes and materials to ensure seamless repairs. Using traditional hand-tools and techniques like reweaving, re-knotting, and re-fringing, we painstakingly repair damage. We can also perform color correction and reviving to restore vibrancy lost to sun or time.

We are the premier choice for restoration in Miami because we operate with the patience and precision of museum conservators. We don't just patch problems; we honor the original weaver's intent. Our deep knowledge of rug construction from various regions allows us to perform historically accurate repairs that maintain both the structural integrity and the investment value of your treasured piece.
