David and Bobby McGrath

Your home should be a sanctuary of comfort, no matter the season. At McGrath Heating and Cooling, we specialize in keeping Independence homeowners cozy in winter and cool in summer. Our residential services cover everything from central air conditioning and furnaces to heat pumps, boilers, and ductless mini-split systems.

We know that a broken AC on a 90-degree day or a furnace that quits during a freeze is an emergency. That’s why we offer prompt, same-day service options. Our NATE-certified technicians arrive with fully stocked trucks, ready to diagnose and repair most issues on the spot. We don’t just patch problems—we find the root cause, whether it’s a refrigerant leak, a faulty thermostat, or aging ductwork.

If your system is beyond repair or driving up energy bills, we make replacement easy. We’ll help you select the right-sized, high-efficiency Lennox equipment, then install it with precision. Our team also performs custom ductwork fabrication and sealing to ensure every room reaches the perfect temperature. Plus, ask about our preventive maintenance plans to avoid unexpected breakdowns and save 5% on parts. Your comfort is our business.

For businesses in Independence, a climate control failure isn't just uncomfortable—it costs money. Restaurants lose perishable inventory. Offices become unbearable. Retail stores lose customers. McGrath Heating and Cooling provides comprehensive commercial HVAC and refrigeration services to keep your operation running smoothly.

We work with a wide range of commercial clients: restaurants, grocery stores, office buildings, retail centers, and industrial facilities. Our services include installation and repair of rooftop units, packaged systems, boilers, and zoning controls. But our real specialty is commercial refrigeration. We service walk-in coolers and freezers, reach-in refrigerators, ice machines, and display cases. When your cooler fails, we respond quickly to prevent product loss and revenue downtime.

Our technicians understand the demands of commercial environments. We work after hours or during off-peak times to minimize disruption to your customers and staff. We also offer customized preventive maintenance programs tailored to your equipment and usage. Regular inspections catch small issues before they become expensive emergencies, extend the life of your assets, and keep your energy bills predictable. Trust us to keep your business comfortable and profitable.

The best way to avoid costly emergency repairs and extend the life of your HVAC equipment is with regular, professional maintenance. McGrath Heating and Cooling offers preventive maintenance plans for both homeowners and business owners in Independence. Our plans provide peace of mind, improved efficiency, and lower utility bills.

Our biannual maintenance visits include a thorough inspection of your heating system in the fall and your cooling system in the spring. We check refrigerant levels, clean coils, lubricate moving parts, test safety controls, inspect electrical connections, and verify thermostat accuracy. For commercial clients, we also check refrigeration temperatures, door seals, and defrost cycles. We provide a detailed report of our findings and recommend any necessary repairs before they become major problems.

Members of our maintenance program receive a 5% discount on parts and priority scheduling. You'll never be left waiting days for an appointment. We also track the age and service history of your equipment, so we can help you plan for future replacements. Regular maintenance keeps your system running at peak efficiency, reduces your carbon footprint, and maintains manufacturer warranties. Call us today to enroll your home or business in a program that pays for itself in energy savings alone.

Are you tired of high energy bills and uneven temperatures? McGrath Heating and Cooling specializes in energy-efficient upgrades and indoor air quality solutions that make your Independence home or business more comfortable, healthy, and affordable.

We start with a comprehensive assessment of your current system, ductwork, and insulation. Many homes suffer from leaky ducts that waste up to 30% of the air moving through them. Our team can perform duct sealing and add insulation to dramatically improve efficiency. We also install zoning systems that let you control temperatures in different areas independently, so you're not heating or cooling empty rooms.

For those ready to upgrade, we offer high-efficiency Lennox furnaces, air conditioners, and heat pumps with SEER ratings up to 26. These systems use significantly less energy than older models, often paying for themselves in utility savings within a few years. We also install ductless mini-splits for additions, garages, or buildings without existing ductwork.

Clean air matters too. We provide whole-home air filtration, dehumidification, and ventilation upgrades to reduce allergens, mold risk, and stale air. Whether you need a simple filter change or a complete HVAC overhaul, we'll design a solution that fits your budget and comfort goals.
