Our beginner course is built for people who have never held a blade. Adult fencing lessons in Phoenix Falcons Fencing Club

Adults make up a large part of our membership, and many come to us with no sporting background at all. Our instructors understand that grown students often want clear explanations and steady progress without feeling rushed. Lessons focus on balance, timing, and the mental side of the sport, which tends to reward patience and careful thought. You can start with our introductory class or move straight into skill work if you have prior experience. Evening sessions fit around work schedules, and the...

Youth fencing

We accept fencers from age eight and up, and our youth program emphasizes good habits from the start. Young fencers learn footwork and blade skills through drills that keep them moving and engaged, while coaches watch closely for safety and sportsmanship. Kids gain coordination, concentration, and confidence, and many enjoy the chance to compete at local events as they grow. Parents are welcome to observe and can often join their child in the beginner course for a shared activity. We aim to make...

Private instruction lets a coach see and fix small problems that are hard to address in a group. Lessons can be booked around regular class times, and many competitive fencers take them weekly. My kid wanted to learn epee, and we found the premier club in the area to support her. Owner with over 50 years of experience and champion coaches , their high-caliber coaching is evident, but the real treasure is their ethical approach to training. Phoenix Falcons Fencing Club fosters a safe, encouraging, and respectful atmosphere where the focus remains on building character alongside superior blade work. I highly recommend them to anyone seeking serious, responsible training. Most importantly, my daughter has a blast; she is growing stronger both physically and mentally every day. A huge thank you to the coaches and administration—you guys rock!

If you're a practioner of HEMA looking to branch out, you will not be welcome here. I stopped by and inquired if I could join them for open-bouting, and while those who greeted me were really nice, I was admonished by coach Rolly who expressed that HEMA is not "fencing". He repeatedly stated that I was not a "fencer" and seemed to be insulted when I equated epee to smallsword, or when I attempted to speak on my knowledge of the sport. I shook Rolly's hand, apologized if I offended him by dropping in, and quickly left. He did offer me the chance to come in for a class, but overall, the encounter was very upsetting. I'm well aware that our respective sports are different, but there is common ground. So I walked in with a smile, hoping to meet new people but left feeling dejected, bewildered at the animosity I had just experienced.

My son started here in early summer. He has learned so much in a few months and is enjoying this new hobby. The instructors are patient and kind with children and I had no idea what fencing entailed before this, but it’s a great sport for girls and boys. Teaches them to think on their feet and be tactical. I’m so happy we found this club.

A great fencing community for adults and children. Fencing happens on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays. Be careful of the Head Coach Rolly Arroyo and the decisions he does at the club.
