Birch and Basil Design

Elevate your property with a breathtaking rooftop or terrace garden designed by the experts at Birch and Basil Design. In Manhattan, outdoor square footage is precious, and we specialize in maximizing its potential for beauty, function, and tranquility. Our design process begins with a comprehensive assessment of your space's structural considerations, sun exposure, wind patterns, and drainage—the critical factors for a successful city garden.

This service is perfect for penthouse owners, residential buildings seeking to add value with amenity spaces, and commercial properties looking to create impressive outdoor areas for employees or clients. We design complete outdoor living environments that may include designated areas for dining, lounging, and even cooking, seamlessly integrated with lush plantings. We select trees, evergreens, and perennials that are specifically suited to container life and the microclimate of your elevation, ensuring a garden that is not only beautiful but sustainable and low-maintenance.

Why choose Birch and Basil Design for your elevated garden? Our principal is a certified arborist and horticulturist with a deep understanding of what plants thrive in urban conditions. We handle every detail, from the initial vision and custom planter design to sourcing mature specimens and overseeing installation. We transform challenging, exposed spaces into coveted outdoor rooms that feel like a true extension of your indoor living area.
